TRAINING FACILITIES
Kentuckiana Lodge is a highly maintained harness training facility.
Consisting of 100 acres (45 Hectares) of pasture green grass for its equine athletes, it has a professionally groomed 1000m track.
"I have a beaut 3 tonne track conditioner from Bendigo, Victoria, which can go as deep as I want," Cran said.
"It's one of the best things I've ever bought and makes the track like running on a beach," he said.
"This enables the horses to work and get their heart rates up without going fast reducing the risk of injuries."
Racehorse preparations are complemented by the equine swimming pool.
"Horses undergo intense aerobic conditioning in the pool with virtually no concussive effects by swimming," Cran said.
"Not only is swimming ideal for the racing athlete, it is also beneficial for horses recuperating from injuries."
"Most horses take naturally to swimming. They don't seem to mind swimming round in circles."
Travelling to racemeetings, workouts and trials, is completed in comfort in either the horse transporter, or tandem horse float (pictured below).
